Can decentralized chemical production using solar photochemical processes render agricultural businesses, biogas plants, and industrial companies be resilient, independent, and economically viable?

Can solar-based conversion of biogas CO₂ into ethene and nitrogen compounds into ammonia be promising pathways for a circular economy?

As part of the SOLEAS research project, we, together with the project coordinator AEE INTEC, invite you to an interdisciplinary online workshop on the future of regional raw material and energy production via photochemical processes. Together, we will explore how the SOLEAS technology could be integrated into future value chains, which promising use cases could emerge, and what new business and prosumer models could enable its successful implementation.

The online workshop provides a platform for interdisciplinary exchange, discussion, and the joint development of new perspectives on regional energy and circular value chains.

When: Tuesday, 22.09.2026 10:00 – 11:45 Uhr

Where: Online via Teams

Overview:

10:00 Stat of the Online-Workshop

10:00 – 10:20 Introduction to the SOLEAS Project by Martin Muster-Slawitsch | AEE INTEC

10:20 – 10:45 Deep Dive: SOLEAS Value Chain & Prosumer Concept

10:45 – 11:45 Introduction & Discussion: Scenarios and Use Cases for a successful integration of the SOLEAS reactor

Together, we will discuss questions such as:

  • What promising use cases and business models could emerge from the SOLEAS technology?

  • How can agricultural residues, biogas CO₂ and other regional resources become valuable feedstocks for new circular value chains?

  • What requirements must solar photoreactor technologies meet to be successfully integrated into existing regional and industrial value chains?
